Olympic Games do not belong to China – Aamir Khan April 2, 2008

Looks like controversies never seem to end for Aamir Khan. By now its common news that the actor-director par excellence was among the privileged few chosen to be a part of the Olympic Torch Relay and carry the Olympic torch in the capital on April 17th. However, no sooner had he expressed his happiness at being part of the prestigious event, he had to face the wrath of the Tibetan community.

For those who came in late, members of the Tibetan community asked Aamir not to participate in the relay as a protest for the injustice meted to the Tibetan community in their fight for freedom against China. Aamir found himself in the middle of yet another controversy with even some of his friends and family members requesting him to back off from participating in the event.

However, Aamir has always believed in doing what he feels is right and this time too he has done the same thing. The versatile actor has gone ahead and posted a blog on his site www.aamirkhan.com in which he has given his reasons for supporting the Olympic torch relay. “The Olympic Games represent for me the coming together of different people across the world despite their differences and difficulties. It is an opportunity for sportsmen and women across the world to showcase their talent, to challenge themselves and others, and for others to watch and marvel at the achievements of the human body, mind and soul. However, I feel that the Olympic Games do not belong to China”, says the actor.

Aamir further even made it clear that he does care for the people of Tibet, “I categorically state that I am absolutely against any form of violence, and certainly I am deeply upset whenever the basic rights of human beings are violated anywhere in the world. I would like to state that I have the highest regard and respect for the struggle that the people of Tibet are going through. I completely empathize with them. My heart goes out to them.”

Aamir also clarified that his participating in the Olympic torch relay did not mean that he supports China, “I request those of you who have asked me to stay away from the Olympic Torch Relay to understand that when I do run with the torch on the 17th of April, it is not in support of China. In fact it will be with a prayer in my heart for the people of Tibet, and indeed for all people across the world who are victims of human rights violations.” signs off Aamir in his blog.

Kareena and Aamir Khan could tie-up with ICL March 11, 2008

If sources are to be believed, Zee group’s Indian Cricket League (ICL) has plans to rope in Aamir to promote their cricket venture.

The ICL is promoted by Subhash Chandra’s Essel Group, which also owns Zee TV. Apparently, it has realised that it is important to have a brand name like Aamir associated with the month-long Twenty-20 tournament, which started on March 9.

Kareena Kapoor is also likely to be a part of ICL. The actress had participated in a show last November to launch the ICL.

The BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) rival venture IPL has already roped in SRK  and Preity Zinta; the former owns the Kolkata franchise while the latter the Mohali team.

“I will not take individual names of actors who will join the ICL, but I can say that talks are on with some of them,” said Ashish Kaul, executive vice-president, Essel group.

Asked specifically if Aamir and Kareena are joining the ICL, Kaul replied, “We are in the advance stages of discussion with some actors. I cannot name them. We have to see how good they will be to our league.”

After seven years, Shah Rukh and Kajol would once again appear on the silver screen together in an emotional love story directed by none other but Karan Johar.

SRK, Kajol to recreate magic yet again!

They have made you cry, laugh and watch bedazzled as they unleashed their magic in films after films like ‘Karan- Arjun’, ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’. We are talking of Bollywood’s favourite onscreen couple, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan.

Well there is some good news for their fans. If reports are to be believed then director Karan Johar, would cast the two of them opposite each other in his next film. SRK and Kajol would face the camera together after seven years. They were last seen together on screen in Johar’s ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’. Before leaving for New York for location hunting, the young director confirmed the news. He said that Kajol and SRK would be in his next film, which is an emotional love story being penned by Shibani Bhatija. He had wanted to recreate the ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ magic. Kajol did admit on the television chat show, ‘KoffeeWith Karan’, that SRK was mad at her for making her comeback with Aamir Khan in ‘Fanaa’ and not him.

The 53rd Fair Film Fare Awards- A Big Hit February 25, 2008

   

53rd Fair Film Fare awards were indeed a grand ceremony. However, one could not help but notice that only those stars were present at the gathering who won certain awards, those who didn’t win anything did not bother to turn up at the show.

The happiest of the lot were those who took home the lovely black lady – the Filmfare trophy. Shah Rukh, Kareena, Aamir Khan, Imtiaz Ali, Tabu, Darsheel Safary, Konkona Sensharma, Irrfan Khan, AR Rahman, Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone… had reason enough to celebrate.

These were the stars who brightened the Award Show, which was hosted at the Yash Raj studios.

The best part was when Sharukh and Saif got naughty using satirical remarks on people of the film industry. This duo are real wicked, but are loved by the audience.

These guys dressed up so whackily too, check them out in that blue wrap up !!!!!!

Happy were those who won the awards and they indeed had a blast that day.
