Mourinho Flies Into Milan March 29, 2008

The Special One is set to meet with Inter coach Massimo Moratti within the next few hours to begin negotiations regarding a move to San Siro.

Radio Antenna 1 has reported that Mourinho has flown to Milan with his agent Jorge Mendez where the pair will talk with the Inter chief.

The Nerazzurri have had problems on the bench with Mancini, who announced he would quit after their Champions League exit only to admit that he made a mistake and that he would be staying.

Last week Inter lost at home to bitter rivals Juventus and it seems as if Moratti is running out of patience in light of Inter’s recent drop in form.

The Nerazzurri are four points in front of second place Roma and the lead at the top of Serie A could be cut down to just 1 point if Inter fail to pick up points against Lazio and if Roma beat Cagliari on Saturday.

It’s a delicate time of the season for the Via Durini based club and anything less than a win against Lazio could see Moratti make some sudden changes on the Inter bench.

UN outrage over Dutch MP’s anti-Islam film March 29, 2008

aleqm5gqt88nyqujwb3x-arfijpvssfd9w.jpgTHE HAGUE (AFP) — UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday joined Muslim nations in expressing outrage over an anti-Islam film posted on the Internet by a far-right Dutch MP.

UN chief Ban called Geert Wilders’ film offensive while Iran and Bangladesh warned it could have grave consequences and Pakistan protested to the Dutch ambassador.

“I condemn in the strongest terms the airing of Geert Wilders’ offensively anti-Islamic film,” Ban said in a statement.

“There is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence. The right of free speech is not at stake here.”

The screening was a calculated “insult to the 1.3 billion Muslims in the world,” according to the 57-nation Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

“The film is a deliberate act of discrimination against Muslims, incitement for hatred and an act of defamation of religions which is solely intended to incite and provoke unrest and intolerance among people of different religious beliefs,” said OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.

Apple Releases New Beta Version of iPhone SDK March 29, 2008

Apple on Thursday released the second beta version of the software development kit for building applications for the iPhone and the iPod Touch. The free download is available online through the company’s Apple Developer Connection Web site. The second beta of the SDK includes an interface builder, the Xcode integrated development environment, the iPhone simulator, frameworks and samples, compilers, and the Shark analysis tool.

Developers who want to test their code directly on the iPhone and distribute their applications through Apple’s App Store have to apply for membership in the iPhone Developer Program.

Apple released the first test version of the SDK on March 6. Since then, developers have logged a number of complaints, starting with Apple’s requirement that all distribution of applications to iPhone users go through the company’s App Store.

More recently, developers learned that they won’t be able to create music players for the iPhone. The SDK apparently doesn’t permit access to iTunes, the iTunes library, or any facets of the iPhone’s music player. As a result, music services such as Amazon.com and eMusic, won’t be able to write their own download services for the iPhone.

Some developers, however, have been trying to make an end-run around Apple. Hackers calling themselves the iPhone Dev Team reported a couple of week ago that they found a way to run applications on the upcoming firmware of the iPhone and iPod Touch without a development certificate from Apple.

The company plans to upgrade the devices’ firmware in June. The new software will have the hooks necessary to run applications built with the SDK.
